Subject: After numerous « fedayin » incursions into the common border with Egypt, Israel was forced to act to stop these attacks. On October 29, 1956, the Sinai campaign was launched. In a 100-hour sweeping operation, the Israel Defense Forces took control of the entire Sinai Peninsula. Britain and France joined the Israeli army and on 1 November launched devastating attacks on the Egyptian Air Force. In the photo above, a crew of an IDF jeep greet a Bomber plane from the French army.
